Anyone with too much spare time on their hands, or in our case a lack of motivation, can easily drift of into the Ethernet through the humble keyboard and screen.
If like us you find yourself on FFFFOUND too much or the staple diet of QBN or Society6, you’ll have noticed that without doubt there has been an explosion when it comes to excellent illustration.
We could list thousands of purveyors of the artform, but honestly, that sounds like a lot of hard work (try our illustration section maybe). Instead we wanted to sum up how we felt by saying we’ve found something new (well we think it’s new) and award them the compliment by featuring them here for being so talented.
Jules Julien is based in Paris and is an exceptional example of illustration that has taken on a life of it’s own. His works are a combination of the figurative and the abstract, with striking dark elements that remind us of Non Format’s more fluent work. Yet they somehow also embody a Japanese flavour not unlike the sensibilities of ancient scrolls. With many exhibitions and a huge body of work for notable clients under his belt, his work has gained it’s own momentum, collecting many fans and lovers of his work.
And we’ve just joined the group!
