Glen E Friedman’s Idealist Propaganda

There isn’t much more we can say about Glen E Friedman and his excellent work. It is true that he has been very well documented and nothing we can offer or say can make much difference now. Glen will always be greatly respected in the photographic world as a true professional, with outstanding timing and a hard head for the facts and not the fiction. We can remember as if it were yesterday our meeting with him at SweetTalk in New York on a fairly snowed-in St. Patrick’s Day a couple of years ago. How invigorating that interview was. It’s true we had heard somewhere before that you should always do something interesting [or scary] each and every day and that day was one of those days for us. It was startling and informative - a day to tell the grandkids about.

So we received a very nice email from Glen last week about his new retrospective show called “Idealist Propaganda”. It is hosted in conjunction with Shepard Fairy’s brand new gallery on Sunset Boulevard, LA, Studio Number One, and runs from December 13th until January 9th. Although it’s a modest space, Glen assures us that there’s even more work on show than in previous exhibitions. He has taken a long look back at all the names he has worked with and photographed, such as RUN-D.M.C, Fugazi, Black Flag, Minor Threat - all that unbelievable skateboard work featured in Dogtown…Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, the list literally goes on and on. You can be sure the work on display will be the best of the best, printed beautifully.

If anyone reading this is in L.A. around that time, why not drop by and see the show. We’re sure it’s obvious we’re big fans and take great pleasure in telling you this news, but this is a show not to be missed, at any cost.
