So although it’s all very good to procrastinate about how amazing all this creativity is and that we wouldn’t be the same without it, what about those who are completely without. Each year The Simon Community do all they can with whatever resources they have to help those who can barely help themselves. We salute them and all who help with the work, not just at Christmas when we feel a little tinge of guilt, but endlessly and tirelessly, all year round.
We also have a place in our hearts [Young hearts] for the one and only Siobhan [Lady] Kane who we believe set up ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ a while back with great response and results. Last year’s event was, by all accounts, a big success and this year we expect it to be no different, The Kane is always fixing, putting good people like herself in touch with like minded souls, with benefits that go beyond friendship, and the odd stain. This year she’s promising marriage no less! We’ll believe that when it happens, but to find out, this year’s hooley is at the Joy Gallery which is at Red space, 2 Rutland place, Parnell square east Dublin 1. 4pm till late.
The stalls, including the Cake Cafe, Blazing Salads and several others selling art, records, clothes and such, will take place from 4pm until around 7pm/8pm along with some films and music; thereafter the rest of the night will continue on with performances, bands, DJ’s, and more films. The added bonus is that you can bring your own tipples, it will run late; and there will be some surprises, secret guests (though not in a creepy held-captive-in-the-attic kind of way) and a raffle with original photography donated by Brian Cross (B+) and CandyCollective . All of the proceeds from the event go to The Simon Community. We really hope you all can go and that you will experience the kind of warm, cosy and hopeful feeling engendered by LOW with this particular song.
Email Siobhan and tell her you love her,
It’s all for those far less fortunate than ourselves, so please do what you can to help support the cause. It’s cold outside. ADMISSION €12
